The debate over who is the better player has been going on a while, and in this year’s finals many are of the opinion that whoever wins on the 2012 NBA Finals Heat vs Thunder will be the better player. This really is shaping up to be one of the most exciting NBA Finals series in a few years. You could go as far to compare this to when Larry Bird and his Celtics took on Magic Johnsons LA Lakers.
One thing for sure is that the pressure is all on Miami in this series. James, Wade and Bosh are supposed to deliver championship after championship for the great city of Miami. James himself just a couple of years ago told the Miami fans that he would bring not just one, but a whole bunch of championships to Miami. It was this press conference that led to him, and the Heat being the bad guys of the NBA, and would usually see them booed out of buildings across the country.
One thing for sure is that LeBron James performance against Boston in game seven really showed that he has stepped up as leader of the Miami Heat. So who knows perhaps now this is the season that this Miami Heat Dynasty is going to take off.
The well-mannered and soft spoken Kevin Durant who many people seem to forget is still on 23 years old appears to be taking a far more laid back approach to this. LeBron has already said that he knows that at some point he will pass the torch of being the best player to Kevin Durant, but I am sure he will not want it to be this early. Kevin Durant so far has really talking about how it will be the team that will win this game, and not just him.
Last night in the opening round of game 1 of the 2012 NBA Finals Heat vs Thunder battle, the Oklahoma City would draw first blood. It was like watching the Miami Heat of last year’s finals. They at one point led by 13 points, but like last year failed to close out the game. The Thunder on the other hand produced a fantastic team performance. Kevin Durant scored an impressive 17 points in the fourth quarter that really put the nail in the coffin for Miami.
It was a very interesting game last night. It is easy to get carried away, but we must remember it was only game one. The Heat really needs to start playing a little more aggressive especially in the second half. As great as the Heat are last night especially in the fourth quarter I got the impression that the Thunder just wanted it more. They were more focused, and executed there plays perfectly.
Like I said this was only game 1 so there will no doubt be more twists and turns in this series. I really thought that the Heat were going to come out of the gate all guns blazing, and in a way they did, but they just could not keep it going for the full game. This above all else is something they really need to address. I know as a fan, I am very intrigued to see how the Heat are going to bounce back from this on Thursday night.
